LTCI Cancellation Waiver

Products LTCI Underwriting Basic Steps to Underwriting
LTCI Areas:

We have designed our underwriting section to serve as a reference tool. Information is provided on medical conditions, medications, and the underwriting process. These can help you determine whether or not a client may be eligible for coverage.

This section is not intended, however, to replace underwriting pre-screening. Our staff is available to contact carriers to pre-screen your clients’ health conditions. Often times, a condition may be listed as uninsurable with one carrier, but may be insurable with another carrier whose information is not listed here.

Please Contact Us for pre-screening questions.

Uninsurable Conditions reflects those conditions which will be automatically declined by a particular carrier. The lists are shown for three of our major carriers. While some of these conditions will not be covered by any carriers, there are some that may be covered by other companies.

The Drug List shows medications commonly used for conditions pertinent to Long Term Care issues. These are listed by brand names and generic names. We have also included links to sites that list information on thousands of medications.

Conditions lists the medical conditions which we are asked about most frequently. These are listed by company. The applicable risk classes for each condition are shown, as well as pertinent questions to ask your client.

Carrier Questions consists of questions taken from our major carriers’ applications. These are essentially the questions that will rule out coverage for some applicants, so that your client can avoid an unnecessary decline. (For example, the questions address such issues as use of a wheelchair, present need of assistance with activities of daily living, etc.)

Underwriting Process lists the actual requirements that must be completed once an application is taken. This list may be used to inform your clients of the underwriting process for a particular carrier. It is not necessary for your office to order the requirements. Either the carrier or we will order the necessary medical records, phone interviews, etc.
